In ancient Greece, Sparta had, by constitution, two kings. Some satellite cities that fell within its sphere of influence. And a certain reluctance to push far from its territory for military campaigns.
From this point of view, the United States seems very different.
A strange analogy could be glimpsed if we looked at the two parties that lead the USA as two monarchs and the nature of current US society as intolerant of distant wars for the maintenance of the power acquired up to now.
The structure of the American Empire, its Deep State, I think can then be considered a reification of the original spirit of the founding fathers. An apparatus that has the sole and obsessive will to protect the integrity of the homeland (1) and to destroy the possible, potential or real enemies of the American Empire.
So there is a chariot that moves in battle and drivers who no longer know whether they are driving or whether they are prisoners of the chariot.
At the same time, I believe that we can also imagine a mythical union between these different beings. Like a chimera, a beast composed of several animals, thus, subjected to strong external pressures or faced with inevitable actions of power, these different components of American society and structure will once again merge into a mythical and ferocious creature.
