Regime Change: Ancient Greece and the US in the Age of Trump

Date of publishing in italian: 5th of January 2025

 The ancient Greeks, in their imperial management (we are talking about Athens and Sparta), used to establish favorable governments in the polis they controlled. Either because they had surrendered or because they had been defeated. The Athenians by establishing democracies, the Spartans oligarchies (mainly).

After Trump's victory in the last elections held in the United States, the following states have changed or are about to change government (maybe others too, but at the moment I am aware of these):

• France
• Germany
• Austria

They are urged to change (by Trump or Musk):

• England
• Canada

They have changed regime:

• Syria

In this path towards the new cold war (with China) and towards the preparation for a possible (even if not certain) war (with China), the United States is establishing right-wing governments in their vassal countries and pushing for right-wing governments in countries generally under their sphere of influence.

They are also pushing socialist/Russian-influenced or non-aligned countries to change their regime (by hook or by crook, directly or indirectly).

They are also stabilizing their borders. Trump's mandate will have this clear tactical/strategic direction.

Musk and Asia Minor in the Time of the Persians

At the time when the ancient Persian Empire clashed in Asia Minor with the poleis / cities built by colonists from Greece (e.g. Athens) who emigrated there, the goal, after the enemy defeat, was the establishment of a satrapy, the appointment of a satrap and the placing in power, in the city, of a friendly oligarchy or tyranny.

Musk, being a private individual with some role in the US administration, is proceeding with proclamations that are the extension of the American will, expressed with an effective power perceived by the European public opinion as inferior.

The US is trying to redefine the governments of its provinces (in the Roman sense of acquired and governed territories).

With Canada they are proceeding in an even more direct way: there it is Trump who intervenes on the Canadian prime minister.

This redefinition of national governments is necessary for the regular management of the increase in military spending requested by the US from NATO (and how it will be converted into weapons and men).

Similar interventionism can be expected in South America as well (although for reasons not directly comparable).

Cambio di regime: antica Grecia e USA nell'epoca di Trump

Gli antichi greci, nella loro gestione imperiale (parliamo di Atene e Sparta), erano soliti impiantare governi favorevoli nelle polis che controllavano. O perché si erano arrese o perché erano state sconfitte. Gli ateniesi impiantando democrazie, gli spartani oligarchie (principalmente). 

Dopo la vittoria di Trump alle ultime elezioni tenutesi negli Stati Uniti, hanno cambiato o stanno per cambiare governo i seguenti stati (magari anche altri, ma al momento ho contezza di questi):

• Francia
• Germania
• Austria

Sono sollecitati a cambiare (da Trump o Musk):

• Inghilterra
• Canada

Hanno cambiato regime:

• Siria

In questo percorso verso la nuova guerra fredda (con la Cina) e verso la preparazione per una possibile (anche se non certa) guerra (con la Cina), gli Stati Uniti stanno impiantando governi di destra nei paesi loro vassalli e spingendo per governi di destra nei paesi genericamente sotto la loro sfera di influenza.

Stanno anche spingendo i paesi socialisti / sotto la sfera di influenza russa o non allineati, a cambiare regime (con le buone o con le cattive, direttamente o indirettamente).

Stanno anche stabilizzando i propri confini. Il mandato di Trump avrà questa chiara direzione tattico/strategica.

Musk e l’Asia Minore ai tempi dei persiani

 Al tempo in cui l’antico impero persiano si scontrava in Asia Minore con le poleis / città costruite da coloni della Grecia (es. Atene) là emigrati, l’obiettivo, dopo la sconfitta nemica, era l’instaurazione di una satrapia, l’incarico a un satrapo e la messa al potere, in città, di una oligarchia o tirannia amica.

Musk, essendo  un privato con un qualche incarico nell’amministrazione US, sta procedendo con proclami che sono l’estensione del volere americano, espresso con un potere effettivo percepibile dall’opinione pubblica europea come inferiore.

Gli US stanno tentando di ridefinire i governi delle proprie provincie (nel senso Romano di territori acquisiti e governati).

Con il Canada stanno procedendo in modo ancora più diretto: lì è Trump che interviene sul primo ministro canadese.

Questa ridefinizione dei governi nazionali è necessaria alla gestione regolare dell’aumento della spesa militare richiesto dagli US alla NATO (e di come verrà convertito in armi e uomini).

Ci si può aspettare un simile interventismo anche in Sud America (anche se per motivi non direttamente comparabili).

Sparta and United States of America

In ancient Greece, Sparta had, by constitution, two kings. Some satellite cities that fell within its sphere of influence. And a certain reluctance to push far from its territory for military campaigns.

From this point of view, the United States seems very different.

A strange analogy could be glimpsed if we looked at the two parties that lead the USA as two monarchs and the nature of current US society as intolerant of distant wars for the maintenance of the power acquired up to now.

The structure of the American Empire, its Deep State, I think can then be considered a reification of the original spirit of the founding fathers. An apparatus that has the sole and obsessive will to protect the integrity of the homeland (1) and to destroy the possible, potential or real enemies of the American Empire.

So there is a chariot that moves in battle and drivers who no longer know whether they are driving or whether they are prisoners of the chariot.

At the same time, I believe that we can also imagine a mythical union between these different beings. Like a chimera, a beast composed of several animals, thus, subjected to strong external pressures or faced with inevitable actions of power, these different components of American society and structure will once again merge into a mythical and ferocious creature.
